FAQ

  • Is this conference for me?

SCNA welcomes any current or aspiring software developers, entrepreneurs, small business owners, development managers, and technology professionals interested in improving their craft, their community, and themselves. We'd love to have you, no matter how broad your interests and experiences are.

  • I'm going to be a little honest here: as a woman, I've always been a little intimidated by the under-representation of my gender in this field.

Software development is not some "boys' club;" 8th Light believes SCNA is an "everyone club." We want all to feel comfortable, and thats why we have a Code of Conduct that we ask all staff, speakers, sponsors, and attendees adhere to in order to make every person at SCNA feel welcome.

  • Are beginners welcome?

Of course! We will present you with a world of software knowledge to get you on track.

  • Where will the conference be located?

    665 Exposition Blvd
    Los Angeles, CA 90089

It will be located at the Town & Gown on the USC campus in beautiful downtown Los Angeles.

  • Where can I park?

Parking is available for free to conference ticket holders. Please park in the PSX Parking Garage on USC Campus. Take Entrance 3 off of Figueroa and McCarthy Way. When arriving, please inform the parking garage attendant that you are here for SCNA and your parking will be validated.

  • Where can I stay for the conference

While the conference is being held on campus, the Radisson Midtown Los Angeles is directly across the street.

  • What if I bought tickets, but decide I have something more important to do than attend?

Please notify us by September 30th for a full refund. Any cancellations from September 30th to October 7th will be refunded 50% of the purchase price. Tickets are non-refundable after October 7th. If you wish to transfer your registration to another attendee, please approve your nomination via email prior to October 18th.

  • Does the venue have a dress code?

Please restrict your attire to "business casual," including jeans and tennis shoes, but no shorts or sandals.

  • How many years has SCNA been around?

With the exception of 2014, we have been hosting SCNA since 2009—this will be our seventh year.

  • Who produces SCNA?

The conference is organized by 8th Light, Inc.

  • I'm at the conference, how can I get help?

All of our volunteers will be wearing name badges with a volunteer label. You can also find us at the registration desk or email us. Volunteers will be present at all SCNA functions and events.
